TV Land’s programming, in the beginning, focused on series from the 1950s to the early 1980s. During its first years, the channel’s lineup prominently featured difference series and dramas. Many of its charter shows such as The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour and The Ed Sullivan Show were abandoned from the lineup by the late 1990s. It also ran numerous sitcoms from the 1960s and 1970s, notably series from Filmways that were created before the rural purge of the late 1960s. Early on, TV Land would often broadcast weekend marathons that were dedicated to a single program. Since the network’s beginning, westerns have also been a notable part of the lineup.
