BBC America is an American pay-TV network that is jointly held by BBC Studios and AMC Networks.
Unlike the BBC channels in the United Kingdom, BBC America does not get funding from the British license fee, as the BBC cannot fund any of its channels that are open outside the United Kingdom. Therefore, BBC America operates as a commercial-supported channel and accepts traditional advertisement. TV subscription fees also fund it.
As of February 2015, BBC America is available to nearly 78.4 million TV households (67.3% of subscription TV clients) in the United States.
